Marvel recently unveiled a new trailer for Spectacular Spider-Men. It features both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they combat crime in New York City. Scheduled for release in March 2024, the dynamic duo will join forces to take on the villainous Jackal. Excitingly for fans of the Spectacular Spider-Man franchise, Greg Weisman is penning this new comic series.
Teaming up with artist Humberto Ramons, whose name is familiar to followers of the Amazing Spider-Man series, the collaboration promises a compelling narrative and visually stunning artwork. A noteworthy aspect of the upcoming series is the unique perspectives that both Peter and Miles bring to the legacy. As Miles has evolved into his own distinct character, stepping out of Peter’s shadow, the interactions between these two iconic heroes are anticipated to be a delightful highlight for readers.
What Spectacular Spider-Men About?
“I’m so thrilled to be writing Spidey again, and the fact that I get to write both Spideys, together, makes the gig doubly sweet,” Weisman offered to Marvel.com. “It’s fun for me, because in this book, I see the younger Miles trying really hard to show his maturity to his mentor Peter, while the older Pete feels free to let out his inner 16-year-old with Miles. So there’s a bit of role reversal to the normal mentor-protege relationship than one might expect to see.”
“But I think both Pete and Miles still feel very true to character,” he added. “And when things get serious, so do our boys (quippage notwithstanding). What we’re seeing here is the evolution from mentor and protegee to them simply being good friends. And that change of status (in process, as it is) really interests me as a writer. Oh, and Humberto’s art is so damn gorgeous.”
More About Spectacular Spider-Men
The creators and contributors to Marvel’s “Spectacular Spider-Men” are expressing immense enthusiasm for the unexpected opportunity presented by this project. Humberto Ramos, in particular, shared with Marvel.com that drawing Spider-Man has been a lifelong dream for him. Since securing his place with Marvel, he has embraced the opportunity wholeheartedly. The collaboration becomes even more special as Ramos finds himself partnered with Greg Weisman, a highly esteemed creator known for his work with the character in animation. The combination of Ramos’s dream come true and the collaboration with Weisman suggests that “Spectacular Spider-Men” has the potential to be something truly exceptional.
“From a very young age, my goal was to draw Spider-Man for Marvel Comics, and now that it has become a recurring reality in my life, I enjoy every occasion in which I am called to do so, or as I like to say ‘come back home,’ and I could not ask for a better way to do that than alongside Greg Weisman, who gave us the greatest Spider-Man TV series!” Ramos elaborated. “Not only that, but in this book, I not only have the joy of drawing not one but two Spider-Mans. Drawing Peter’s adventures was exciting enough, I can only imagine how it will be drawing both Peter and Miles’ adventures! I love my job!”
