Madame Web Runtime: The newest installment in Sony’s Spider-Man spin-off universe, thankfully shedding its former name, the ‘Spider-Man Universe of Marvel Characters’ or SPUMC, is ready to hit theaters next month with Madame Web. Led by Dakota Johnson, this comic-book action movie marks a significant milestone in the collaboration between Sony and Marvel. Scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day, Madame Web takes a unique approach by featuring a predominantly female cast, a move that Sony hopes will prove successful. The studio’s confidence in the film is apparent, as Madame Web will be the longest movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe to date.
Madame Web Runtime
According to information from the Norwegian ticketing company website FilmWeb, Madame Web runtime is expected to be 116 minutes (1 hour and 56 minutes). If this report holds true, the film would surpass Venom by four minutes, Morbius by 12 minutes, and the notably shorter Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which had a runtime of only 97 minutes. While Madame Web’s duration is relatively longer for a contemporary Sony Marvel film, it still falls short of the typical length of modern superhero movies.
For comparison, the average duration of a Marvel Studios movie is approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes. However, this concise runtime likely be advantageous, as not every movie needs to be three hours long, and sometimes brevity can be more effective.
“In a switch from the typical genre, Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” says the film‘s synopsis. “The suspense-driven thriller stars Dakota Johnson as Cassandra Webb, a paramedic in Manhattan who may have clairvoyant abilities. Forced to confront revelations about her past, she forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures … if they can all survive a deadly present.”
Cast of Madame Web
Adding to the cast alongside Johnson is Sydney Sweeney. Sony aims to leverage Sweeney’s substantial fan base, cultivated through her romantic comedy alongside Glen Powell, to draw audiences to Madame Web. There’s even potential for a clever teaser or double feature, capitalizing on the momentum created by Sweeney’s recent rom-com success. The rest of the cast includes Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Transformers: The Last Knight), Emma Roberts (American Horror Story), Golden Globe nominee Tahar Rahim, Mike Epps (The Upshaws), and Adam Scott (Severance).
