Jennifer’s Body Sequel: Who doesn’t remember Megan Fox in Jennifer’s Body? Probably it’s the only Megan Fox movie, most of us loved and can think of. But now, we might get to revisit the film once again as writer Diablo Cody shows interest in making a sequel. Keep reading to know all about the possible Jennifer’s Body sequel.
Diablo Cody Wants to Make A Jennifer’s Body Sequel
In an exclusive interview with The Boo Crew, Diablo Cody, opened up about her interest to revisit Jennifer’s Body. She said, “Yes! I wanna do a sequel. I am not done with Jennifer’s Body.” She added, “
“I just need to find… I need to partner with people who believe in it as much as I do and that hasn’t really happened yet. I need someone to believe in it who has a billion dollars […] I mean it’s gotten progressively happier for me. At first, I was like, I was excited about it, obviously. But I was also a little bit salty because I remember thinking, ‘Well, where was this audience when the movie came out?'”
“It [Jennifer’s Body] was a critical, commercial failure. I was pretty humiliated to be perfectly honest with you. It was a rough experience having that movie come out. It was rough for me, it was rough for Megan [Fox]… [then] people started suddenly talking about it like it was a good movie, which I had thought all along.”
“At first I just thought, oh where was this audience when I needed it and then I realized they were like… seven. And then some people who maybe didn’t appreciate it at the time have come around and now I’m just like, there’s no saltiness, now I’m just happy.”
Diablo Cody’s Current Project
Despite maintaining a consistent work pace since Jennifer’s Body and accumulating a list of credits, such as The United States of Tara, Young Adult, and Tully, Cody has not managed to replicate the critical acclaim she received with Juno.
Diablo Cody makes a comeback to the horror genre with her newest screenplay, crafted for the upcoming film Lisa Frankenstein. Despite the box office disappointment of Jennifer’s Body, led by Megan Fox in 2009, Cody remains optimistic about revisiting the content through a potential sequel.
Despite its original theatrical release yielding only $31.6 million worldwide, Jennifer’s Body is still considered one of the funniest horror comedies ever made. Critics criticized the film’s quirkiness, reflected in its modest 46% Tomatometer rating. Furthermore, audience reception appears even less favorable, with a current 35% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating a greater level of disdain from fans.
