Hogwarts Legacy offers players a vast array of locations and hidden areas to discover. However, if players are eager to explore Azkaban, they must follow specific steps to gain access. Azkaban is limited to a specific group of students, and certain irreversible decisions can prevent players from entering Azkaban entirely. Therefore, players need to be aware of the choices they make early in the game to ensure access to Azkaban.
In the rich history of Harry Potter, Azkaban has served as the prison for some of the wizarding world’s most notorious dark witches and wizards, including characters like Bellatrix Lestrange and Bartemius Crouch Junior. Fortunately for players who engage in the use of Unforgivable Curses, there is no risk of being sentenced to Azkaban in the Hogwarts Legacy RPG, as the benefits of dark magic outweigh the drawbacks. However, players who wish to explore Azkaban in Hogwarts Legacy can do so, provided they make the right choices.
Only Hufflepuffs Can Enter Azkaban In Hogwarts Legacy
To access Azkaban in Hogwarts Legacy, players need to choose Hufflepuff as their house at the beginning of the game. The prison is exclusively accessible through Hufflepuff’s House quest. After progressing through the initial missions and rescuing an elderly woman near the Great Lake, players will receive a letter via owl instructing them to speak to the portrait of Eldritch Diggory in the Hufflepuff common room. Following the “Prisoner of Love” quest and entering the prison alongside the former Auror, Helen Thistlewood, allows players to explore Azkaban. Unfortunately, this means Gryffindor, Slytherin, and Ravenclaw students cannot visit Azkaban in Hogwarts Legacy.
What Happens Inside It?
In Hogwarts Legacy, when players enter Azkaban alongside Helen Thistlewood to seek out Anne Thisbe, they encounter hostile Dementors inside the prison. Helen dispels these soul-sucking creatures using the Expecto Patronum charm. However, the Dementors aren’t the most dangerous beings within Azkaban. Upon finding Anne, she provides clues about the location of Jackdaw’s pages. Unfortunately, before they can leave, Anne attacks Helen, causing critical injuries. Although the two manage to escape, the journey is not without intense moments.
After the initial visit to Azkaban in Hogwarts Legacy, it’s not possible to revisit the prison for a second time. The experience is relatively brief and follows a linear path. Despite its brevity, it’s a worthwhile venture, particularly for Harry Potter enthusiasts familiar with the notorious prison. While the quest is currently exclusive to Hufflepuff House, there’s potential for future DLC to expand on this adventure and possibly allow students from other Houses to participate. As it stands, only Hufflepuffs can access Azkaban in Hogwarts Legacy.
