This rapid availability marks a 31-day interval from Aquaman 2’s initial release in theaters to its accessibility on online marketplaces like Google, Amazon, and Apple.
Below are the theatrical-to-online-release timeframes for DC’s four movies:
- Shazam! Fury of the Gods: March 17-April 7 (21 days)
- The Flash: June 16-July 18 (32 days)

When Will Aquaman 2 Begin Streaming on Max?
Once Aquaman 2 begins its streaming journey, it will join Max’s lineup alongside numerous other titles from the broader DC Universe, and the looming question is when this transition will occur.
To draw a comparison, Shazam! Fury of the Gods had a 67-day interval between its theatrical release and streaming debut, hitting theaters on March 17 and commencing its streaming availability on May 23, coinciding with Max’s official rebranding.
In contrast, despite being labeled as the most significant superhero movie flop in history, The Flash took a mere 70 days to make its move to streaming. It premiered in theaters on June 16 and found its way onto Max on August 25.
Blue Beetle surpassed this timeframe, initially premiering on the big screen on August 18 and staying in theaters for 91 days before eventually landing on Max on November 17, despite falling short of financial expectations.
Given the relative success of Aquaman 2 compared to its predecessors, especially following the first film’s achievement as the only DCEU movie to surpass the $1 billion mark in 2018, Warner Bros. is likely to capitalize on its box office triumph.
Considering this strategy, the streaming debut of Aquaman 2 should align closely with the 91-day timeframe established by Blue Beetle. If we adhere to a 90-day wait, it suggests that Aquaman 2 would start streaming on Max around Friday, March 22.
As of now, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is still actively screening in theaters, and its online release date is set for Tuesday, January 23.
